Bob, you like the cover of Whiskey in the Jar? I didn't think it was that good, but that's just me.

Yeah, I do. Metallica's version has got a real driving energy behind it, it really picks up the tempo. Thin Lizzy's is similar, but it sounds like 70s metal compared to 90s metal (a little thinner). But they used to put the ooomph in it when they played live (yes, I'm old enough to remember seeing Thin Lizzy live! LOL!).

People seem to be making a big deal out of the Dixie Chicks' "Landslide", but I think the Pumpkins version blow the Chicks' away!

Absolutely! I hate the Dixie Chic's version. (Don't even think I have ever heard it all the way through.) And their higher than though political stance doesn't thrill me either.

I have a head full of useless music trivia knowledge. Name a one-hit wonder song and I'll know who did it. I have no idea why I know these things. If I ever got on "Rock 'n' Roll Jeopardy" I would have cleaned up! That dude from Sugar Ray only thinks he had knowledge! ;)

What's your favorite cover version of any song you've ever heard? Mine at the moment would be........

1) "Getting Better" - Gomez
2) "Norwegian Wood" - Cornershop
3) "Pretty Woman" - Van Halen
4) "Well, Alright" - Blind Faith
5) "All Along The Watchtower" - Jimi Hendrix

What are yours?

I like No Doubt's cover of Talk Talk's "It's My Life".

The dance cover of Helen Reddy's "I am Woman" (from the movie "Trick") rocks :)

UB40's cover of Elvis' "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You" has a special place in my heart as well ;)

I just heard a really cool version of "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" by Pillar - flat out good. Another awesome cover is "Scarborough Fair" by Queensryche - it rocks.

Black Crows "Hard to Handle"

Guns N Roses "Live and Let Die"

I know there are a ton more but that is off the top of my head.

Bruce covering Jimmy Cliff's "Trapped"

Judas Priest doing Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust"

Twisted Sister used to do a mean cover of The Stones's "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll" back in their club days. :band:

4) "Louie, Louie" - Kingsmen
5) "Higher Ground"- Red Hot Chili Peppers

"Stone Cold Crazy" - Metallica

and a newer one:

"Crazy" - Mushroomhead. This is a new cover of the famous song by Seal. I have only heard it a few times but I remember thinking that it was pretty cool!

Tori's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is pretty sweet as well. My sister loved Tori's version of that song and it was played at her funeral - I still can't listen to it without crying.

I didn't know she did one! Awesome.

I like that Hawaiian guy's version of Somewhere. It was big on the commercial and tv show soundtrack circuit about 2 years ago. I have it on mp3 somewhere...

It's on the Hey Jupiter cd single - last track and it's live.
