Yeah, they need a youth movement here in the worst way. It'll be years before they'll be legit contenders. Better start sooner then later rebuilding.

Even better for local fans, the Diamondbacks are sending a strong group of prospects to play for the Salt River Rafters. Shortstop Jazz Chisholm slammed 25 homers in 456 at-bats between Low-A and High-A. Catcher Daulton Varsho, the son of former big leaguer Gary Varsho, had a strong year with High-A Visalia.

Right-hander Jon Duplantier, the Diamondbacks’ top pitching prospect, will look to make up for lost innings after missing time with Double-A Jackson due to biceps tendinitis. Another position player, first baseman Pavin Smith, was the seventh overall pick in the 2017 draft, and he’ll be trying to rebound from a rough first full season as a pro.
