Take note, fantasy football managers: Jaylen Waddle's off to a strong start with the Denver Broncos.
Waddle has been one of the early standouts at Broncos training camp, "putting on a show" during one-on-one drills at Tuesday's practice. Waddle has also clearly made a good impression on coach Sean Payton.
"It's gonna affect your fantasy show," Payton told NFL Network's Cynthia Frelund and Steve Wyche during an interview at training camp last weekend when asked about Waddle's role on offense. Payton went on to say NFLN's fantasy football show was the last thing he watches before he goes to bed at night.
Denver quarterback Bo Nix has also been full of praise for the team's new receiver.
“He’s an explosive playmaker," Nix said last week. "The guy is really good at what he does. He makes plays, he’s fast, he’s really explosive. He’s great ball in hand, he’s great going to get the ball deep, he’s great in the screen game. He can do just a lot of things. He’s very versatile. He adds an extra element to our offense, and it’s exciting."
After totaling 5,039 receiving yards and hauling in 26 touchdown catches through five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Waddle now has a fresh start with the Broncos in an offense looking to take the next step. Judging from the early comments out of training camp, Waddle will be a very relevant receiver in fantasy football this fall.
