Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts officially signed his franchise tag on Tuesday morning, meaning he will remain in Atlanta for at least one more season on a fully guaranteed $15.045 million contract. The former top-five pick led the team with 88 catches for 928 receiving yards last season.

The Falcons can still work out a long-term deal with Pitts, but the franchise tag prevented him from signing elsewhere in free agency. Over his first five seasons, Pitts has recorded 284 receptions for 3,579 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

"The deadline for players on the franchise tag is July 15, and the new Falcons regime has plenty of time to get to know Kyle Pitts and potentially work out a deal," wrote Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. "In the meantime, Pitts secures his payday."

Pitts had a 1,000-yard season as a rookie in 2021 but struggled over the next few years as the Falcons shuffled through multiple quarterbacks. The 25-year-old tore his MCL in his second season and did not look like the same player until he bounced back in 2025.

Pitts is one of several Falcons players in Flowery Branch for voluntary workouts, along with running back Bijan Robinson, safety Jessie Bates III and linebacker Jalon Walker.
