Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Jalon Walker was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 15 pick in the 2025 NFL draft. He is the second Georgia Bulldog to be drafted.
Walker was often projected to land with NFC South rival Carolina Panthers, but the Panthers chose to fortify their offense with Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. Walker went to Salisbury High School in Salisbury, North Carolina, less than an hour drive from Charlotte.
However, Walker will be staying closer to the University of Georgia for the start of his NFL career.
Walker, a five-star recruit from the class of 2022, progressed from a rotation edge rusher on Georgia's second national championship team to Georgia's sack leader in 2024. Walker racked up 13 1/2 sacks in his career. His great acceleration and run defense will also help the Atlanta defense, which has lacked an elite pass rusher for a long time. He also has incredible versatility as an off-ball linebacker/edge rusher.
Walker's pick marks the first time the Falcons have selected a Georgia player with a first-round pick in the common draft era. The Georgia standout will be popular with both Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons fans.
