The Fairfield Prep boys swim team captured its fifth consecutive Southern Connecticut Conference championship, and 22nd overall, with a meet record 1,628.5 points Thursday at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.
The Jesuits' Jack Cunningham earned most outstanding performer for winning the 200 individual medley (1:53.63) and anchoring the victorious 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.
Fairfield Prep's Evan VanVelzor was a double individual winner, taking the 200 freestyle (1:46.31) and 500 freestyle (4:42.56), and was also part of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
The Jesuits won all three relays.
In the opening event, it was VanVelzor, Halran Lewandowski, Wynton Buerstetta and David Kavasansky finishing in 1:39.79 to claim the 200 medley relay.
Andy Thung, Rohan Thung, Kavasansky and Cunningham won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:28.30.
And in the final event, VanVelzor, Brendan Natlo, Maksimilian Shemiako and Cunningham won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:12.75.
Amity took second with 799 points, and Daniel Hand was third (689).
Sheehan/Lyman Hall's Jack Angelastro won both the 100 free(48.96) and 100 breaststroke (58.84).
Notre Dame's Gavin Giordano won the 50 free in 21.85.
Amity's Markiyan Yukhno won the 100 backstroke (53.56).
