SHELTON - Abdou Toure gets tons of well-deserved accolades, as the best boys basketball player in Connecticut should get.
But it's been a dominant team at Notre Dame-West Haven that has been a part of two straight CIAC Division I championships and four straight SCC titles. The Green Knights will play for SCC title No. 5 on Monday night.
Toure finished with 29 points for No. 2 seeded Notre Dame, which defeated No. 3 West Haven 75-52 in the SCC tournament semifinals Saturday at Shelton High School.
The Green Knights (19-3), the No. 1 team in the GametimeCT Top 10 poll all season long, will face No. 5 seed Fairfield Prep in Monday night's final at Quinnipiac University's M&T Bank Arena. Tip time is 7:30 p.m.
The Green Knights will be in their ninth championship game in the last 10 years.
The first SCC victory for Notre Dame came in 2022 against Fairfield Prep. The Jesuits (18-5) were able to defeat top seed North Haven 54-40 in the first semifinal.
