It's interesting bc in Mitch's earlier thread about taking a back with a first round selection I poo-poo'ed the idea. Now seeing CJ slow considerably (even prior to the injury) and recognizing ellingtons injury shortcomings I can't be so definitive.

That said, I still can't see them going RB in round 1. Not with need at ILB, the perennial need at olb (I feel my iPhone should have that as an autocorrect by now with how often I type we need to draft an olb high), cornerback and QBOF. And having just selected DJ with a third round pick is be surprised if they wanted to rely on two young guys (really three when you consider how young and relatively inexperienced Ellington kinda is with all the missed games). I think we can rather expect another mendenhall, Dwyer, CJ type signing for depth.

All that said, if there aren't any good pass rushers it dynamic cbs or ilbs, or intriguing QBOF that fell to us, I'd live to take a flyer on that RB from Alabama. He might be Trent Richardson, but I think he's more. He's a big kid and total bull. He'd give this offense a physical presence it doesn't currently possess (DJ isn't really a punishing runner). A DJ, Alabama (can't remember his name, Derrick something), AE backfield is deep, versatile and provides true change of pace opportunities.

That is the damn problem for us Cards Ouchie, we need speed and we need a LB (correction, a couple at the position) and those guys will be gone before we pick... it is a double edge sword being a good team now lol

The only positions offensively i see worthy of spending a 1st thru 4 th round draft pick on are qb of the future and center otherwise I would draft front 7

Round 1.... LB

Round 2..... C

Round 3...... RB/LB

Round 4....... DT/CB

there are always thousands of corners in free agency for depth

I'd rather put a mid-round RB behind a first-rate OL, than take a 1st round RB and put him behind a marginal (or worse) OL. Any day, twice on Sundays. Let's address the line, and find a pass rusher, before taking ANY RB's.

I get that having a special RB can make a huge difference. There are what, 4 special backs in the NFL right now, Bell, Lynch (or is he), Gurley and AP. So if one of those falls to us at our 32nd pick then sure go ahead and take him.

IMO we need LBers, CB, OC and RB in that order. QBOTF is also on the list but not needed this upcoming draft unless a gem falls to us.

I would add that if we re-sign CJ then a RB isn't needed this next draft either.

Mush more pressing needs than picking a RB in round 1. If you go through the list of starting RB's in the league, very few of the top guys were round 1 picks. I agree that LB, D-line, O-line or CB should be out emphasis.

LBs aren't always gone before we pick, it's identifying the right guy (JUSTIN HOUSTON) and taking him instead of going with a perceived need. The Cardinals just haven't prioritized LB enough in their draft needs IMO.
