One former Tennessee Titan who has found success and now has a chance at Super Bowl glory is Seattle Seahawks inside linebacker Ernest Jones.
Jones wasn’t with the Titans long, although his arrival created a buzz when he landed in Nashville after being traded from the Los Angeles Rams at the end of training camp. Unfortunately, he didn’t last long enough to make an impact and was surprisingly traded to the Seahawks at the trade deadline weeks later by former general manager Ran Carthon.
In all, he played in six games with 44 total tackles (29 solo) with the Titans.
During his press availability, he was asked about his time in Nashville and the differences between the organizations.
“I don't know if there is a strict stage for Tennessee, but where their program is at, it's just too different. They're going through a lot, and I love that they've been going through a lot of coaching changes.” Jones said, “One thing I do know about those guys over there is they fight. They fight regardless what their record looks like. They gonna go out there, give it all. At some point, they will see the fruits of their labor for sure.”
This is yet another former player whose comments seem to paint the culture and infrastructure in Nashville under head coach Brian Callahan in a dismal light. This one comes just days after New England Patriots edge Harold Landry deflected questions about the team’s culture under Callahan.
These statements, and even non-statements, reinforce the goal of rebuilding the Titans’ culture this offseason, which led to the hiring of Robert Saleh, and have fans hoping general manager Mike Borgonzi made the right decision.
