Jay Rosehill believes Easton Cowan could become a 25-goal scorer for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2026-27 NHL season. The former Leaf sees an opportunity developing despite Toronto’s busy offseason.
Speaking on Leafs Morning Take, Nick Alberga proposed Cowan reaching 25 goals in a breakout season. Rosehill immediately backed the possibility.
“I like it. I hope that happens. I could see it happening,” Rosehill said.

Cowan enters his second NHL season after recording 11 goals and 18 assists in 66 games. He also produced 18 points in 22 AHL playoff games while helping the Marlies win the Calder Cup.
His development gives Toronto another young option beyond the team’s established stars. The bigger question involves where Cowan fits within Jim Hiller’s forward structure.
Rosehill believes that role will determine whether Cowan can reach the 25-goal mark. Toronto’s offseason additions have created more competition throughout the lineup.
“There’s not a lot of guys talking about Easton Cowan right now with all the additions and things going on,” Rosehill said.
That lack of attention could benefit Cowan. He enters camp without the pressure attached to Toronto’s biggest names, while still possessing a chance to earn important minutes.

Rosehill specifically questioned whether Cowan can earn a top-six position or remain in the bottom six. Either route could provide value, but his linemates will matter. He said, “I wonder who he’s going to play with. I wonder how much time he’s going to get in the top six.”
Toronto’s revamped forward group includes Gavin McKenna, Jack Roslovic, Colton Sissons, Nick Paul and Teddy Blueger. Those additions give Hiller more combinations to test during camp.
Cowan’s speed, forechecking and willingness to compete could make him useful alongside skilled players. However, 25 goals would require stronger finishing and increased offensive responsibility.

Rosehill also believes Cowan can score without receiving top-line minutes.
“Can he get 25 in the bottom six all season long?” Rosehill asked.
He soon added that the answer will depend on chemistry and playing time, saying, “The opportunity is there. The possibility is there. I think he has the potential to do that.”
For Toronto, Cowan’s emergence would provide inexpensive scoring and improve lineup depth. A 25-goal season would also give Hiller another reliable offensive piece.
