Former Las Vegas Raider Henry Ruggs III thought he might be granted early parole, but a Las Vegas court denied it.

Ruggs was convicted of vehicular manslaughter and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He thought he might be paroled on Thursday, but he apparently will have to serve out at least another year of his sentence.

Ruggs was traveling at 156 miles per hour when his car hit the back of Tina Tintor's car, launching her car into the air and ultimately killing her and her dog, Max. His blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit (0.16). Tintor was just 23 years old when she perished.

Ruggs's conviction occurred in May of 2023 and carried a minimum sentence of three years, which is why he was up for parole.

Ruggs was the first-round draft pick of the Raiders out of Alabama and started his career with the team on a high note.

However, this incident all but derailed Ruggs’s career, and he thought he might be able to get it back if he were released today. There is still hope for Ruggs. He will be up for parole next year.

Since being in prison, Ruggs has gotten his bachelor's degree from Alabama.
