The NFL has released the finalized order for the 2026 draft after handing out compensatory picks, and the New Orleans Saints have eight picks at their disposal, as expected.
Should the Saints keep all eight picks, it would be one less than they used last year. The last time they used at least eight before then was in 2015. Perhaps this could be a strategy preferred by Kellen Moore, but a larger sample size will be needed before drawing any conclusions.
Here's where each selection falls for the Saints:
The Rashid Shaheed trade could pay dividends with those two picks, in the fourth and fifth rounds, from the Seahawks. The Saints have had some success in that range recently with guys like Quincy Riley, Danny Stutsman and Jordan Howden. C.J. Gardner-Johnson is another, less recent, fourth-rounder. If New Orleans can find another player in that range of contributions, they should have a fairly deep roster. They got another compensatory fourth-round pick for the loss of cornerback Paulson Adebo to the New York Giants.
New Orleans could have had three fourth-round picks this year, but ended up trading their own to the Denver Broncos for wide receiver Devaughn Vele. The way he looked in limited action last year with Tyler Shough, it looks like they would rather have Vele, which is a success. Not everyone thought it would play out like that when the deal was made.
Their 2026 seventh-round pick was sent over to the New England Patriots in the deal for Davon Godchaux.
