It's official. The New Orleans Saints will receive the 136th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft as a compensatory selection for losing Paulson Adebo in free agency last year. That's a late fourth rounder, which lines up with Adebo's $18 million per-year New York Giants contract; remember, comp picks start at the end of Round 3. The NFL announced the 2026 comp picks on Monday afternoon, as if there wasn't enough already going on with the opening hours of free agency.
But the Saints will need it. Any extra swings at the plate can help turn a team around. Here's a quick look at the picks New Orleans can work with in the 2026 draft, and beyond:
On top of that, the Saints own each of their picks in the first five rounds of the 2027 NFL Draft, plus a sixth rounder from the Los Angeles Chargers' trade for Trevor Penning. They also own their first picks in Rounds 1 through 5 in the 2028 draft, with their own seventh rounder plus Round 7 picks from the Dallas Cowboys (a pick swap for Asim Richards) and New England Patriots (pick swap for Ja'Lynn Polk). New Orleans may have been too active in free agency to recoup comp picks in 2027, but it's early.
