The Los Angeles Dodgers received another encouraging update on reliever Evan Phillips as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Pitching for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Phillips worked a scoreless inning against the Sacramento River Cats. He surrendered one hit, issued one walk, and recorded a strikeout while throwing 19 pitches, 11 of which were strikes.

The appearance was Phillips' sixth rehab outing since beginning his assignment earlier this month. Through those six games, he has posted a 1.59 ERA while gradually increasing his workload and sharpening his command.

With each appearance, the veteran reliever appears to be moving closer to returning to Los Angeles.

Return Could Come Later This Summer

While the Dodgers have not announced a timetable for Phillips' activation, his recent performances suggest he is making meaningful progress in his recovery.

The right-hander has not appeared in a major-league game since May 2025, when his season was cut short and eventually led to Tommy John surgery. More than a year later, he is now nearing the final stages of the rehabilitation process.

For a Dodgers club that has relied heavily on bullpen depth throughout the season, the potential return of an experienced late-inning arm would provide a significant boost.

If Phillips continues to progress without setbacks, a return sometime in July appears increasingly realistic.

Trusted Reliever for Los Angeles

Since joining the Dodgers organization in 2021, Phillips has developed into one of the club's most dependable relief pitchers.

After being claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays, he quickly established himself as a high-leverage option and earned the trust of manager Dave Roberts in critical situations.

Across 201 appearances with Los Angeles, Phillips has compiled a 2.22 ERA while consistently handling important innings. His ability to limit damage and generate key outs made him a valuable piece of multiple postseason runs.

The Dodgers reaffirmed their confidence in Phillips by bringing him back on a one-year contract before the 2026 season despite his ongoing recovery.

Now, after months of rehabilitation, Phillips appears to be nearing the opportunity to once again contribute at the major-league level and strengthen a Dodgers bullpen preparing for the second half of the season.
