It is anyone's guess right now which NBA team LeBron James will suit up for during this upcoming season, or when he will announce which team he will sign with in free agency. He let the Los Angeles Lakers know on Tuesday, June 30, that he wouldn't be staying with them, but since then, there has been mostly silence from his camp.

The frontrunners for his services are thought to be the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat. The Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves have also been mentioned as options, and the Golden State Warriors also remain a possibility, especially because of James' friendships with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, teams that are hoping to land the future Hall of Famer are sending voice notes to Rich Paul, his longtime agent and friend.

"Sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday that Rich Paul, James' agent and the CEO of Klutch Sports, has facilitated team executives in selling their vision to him by sending a voice note for James via Paul," McMenamin wrote.

James strongly implied on his "Mind the Game" podcast weeks ago that he may not make a decision on his next team until August. Per McMenamin, there doesn't seem to be any urgency for James to decide where he will head for his 24th NBA season.

"Sources told ESPN that James is still in the process of absorbing the pertinent information of every suitor, with one source saying there is "no timetable" for the 41-year-old veteran to make his decision.

"James has spent the past few weeks with family and friends enjoying vacation and time on the golf course, in no rush to decide.

"Paul previously told ESPN he has already informed interested teams that money will not be the determining factor for James, so it has allowed teams to continue to go about filling out their rosters during free agency without the prospect of James' decision holding up their cap space."

The 41-year-old just wrapped up an eight-year tenure with the Lakers, and it was his longest continuous tenure with one team. He averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists as he adjusted to being L.A.'s third scoring option, and he helped it claim the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 53-29 record.

After Luka Doncic suffered a season-ending hamstring strain on April 2, James put up 23.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game as L.A. upset the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs. The Lakers were then swept in the next round by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
