With the team hiring a general manager, the Miami Dolphins are now turning their attention to the head coach, and as expected former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is one of their candidates.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, once the Dolphins hired Jon-Eric Sullivan as their next general manager, the team reached out to Harbaugh to express interest.

"On the day the Dolphins finalized an agreement with GM Jon-Eric Sullivan, they finally reached out to John Harbaugh and let it be known that they, too, are in interested in him, per sources," Schefter reported.

There are no details about whether or not the Dolphins have set up an interview with Harbaugh yet, but the expectation is the former Ravens coach will begin talking to teams this coming week.

Harbaugh would be a perfect fit for the Dolphins, who need experience, stability and a proven winner, something Harbaugh certainly offers after 18 years and one Super Bowl as the Ravens' head coach.

There are no known ties between Sullivan and Harbaugh, which is important to note because connections are usually pretty important in the NFL.

Miami did interview a general manager candidate with ties to Harbaugh in Los Angeles Chargers assistant general manager Chad Alexander, but he obviously didn't get the job.

It's going to be an uphill battle for the Dolphins to hire Harbaugh, as several teams are interested in him, and more could be added to the list after this weekend if any playoff teams fire their head coach.

The New York Giants in particular appear to be the front-runner to land Harbaugh. Not only does Big Blue "want Harbaugh badly," according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, but Harbaugh is interested in the Giants because of Jaxson Dart.

The Athletic's Ian O'Connor echoes that sentiment about the mutual interest between Harbaugh and the Giants, but notes that Miami should be taken as a "serious threat" for Harbaugh's services.
