Erling Haaland names the World Cup team he is now supporting after Norway’s exit

Erling Haaland has revealed that he would love to see England now go on to win the World Cup after defeating Norway 2-1.

Jude Bellingham netted a brace as the Three Lions came from behind to defeat Norway in extra time and reach the World Cup semi-finals.

The Norwegians have been superb at this World Cup, but Thomas Tuchel’s team proved a step too far for Haaland and co.

After the game, Haaland was speaking about the country in which he was born and why he will be rooting for the Three Lions for the remainder of the tournament.

Erling Haaland is hoping England go on to win the World Cup​

Erling Haaland has said that he is now hoping England will go on to win the World Cup after knocking him and Norway out in the quarter-finals.

The 25-year-old was born in Leeds, with his dad having played for Leeds United, and has been pictured in an England kit when he was younger.

Haaland also has several Manchester City teammates who are playing for England, including Marc Guehi, Elliot Anderson and John Stones, giving him another reason to support them.

After the game, speaking to the media, Haaland said: “Yes, why not? I think I have some of my City teammates in England, and in France, and Spain, so of course I want England to do well.

“I’ve been supporting… I think I got an England national team jersey before I got a Norway jersey when I was little, so of course I want England to do well because it’s a beautiful country, and their jersey is beautiful too.”

The interview proves why Haaland is such a likeable character, having shown such grace in defeat.
