When England head coach Thomas Tuchel did not start Harry Kane, it raised eyebrows. When Kane did not even make an appearance, it was definitely odd.

Per Diario AS, it was a matter of rotation:

The decision appears to be one of rotation rather than injury. After England’s heartbreaking semifinal defeat to Argentina, head coach Thomas Tuchel has opted to freshen up his side for the bronze medal game, handing opportunities to several players who have seen fewer minutes during the tournament.

Hopefully, that is the case. Kane did have a massive workload this season and is getting older. Still it was very curious to see Kane not get involved at all in England’s 6-4 win over France, especially when the 2018 champions stormed back to make it a 4-3 game in the second half after trailing by four goals.

Either way, Kane will get a well-deserved rest before reporting to Bayern Munich.
