Unless they meet in the playoffs, the Cincinnati Bengals won’t see former starter Geno Stone next year.
But Stone has gone from an overlooked free-agent signing of the Buffalo Bills to an apparent starter for Josh Allen’s defense.
Those Bills lost C. J. Gardner-Johnson to injury during the early goings of training camp, so Stone was working with others and getting first-team reps while he missed time.
Stone, of course, was a polarizing player for the Bengals from 2024-2025 after coming over from Baltimore. The latest in a long line of attempts by the franchise to fix the Jessie Bates mistake, Stone mightily struggled with missed tackles and being a full-time starter.
So, Stone might get another chance with a contender, while the Bengals move forward with Bryan Cook and Jordan Battle, plus veteran Kyle Dugger.
