Last month, Florida State extended an offer to 2027 four-star quarterback Jake Nawrot out of Arlington Springs, Illinois. However, the main thing they had to accomplish was getting him on campus for the first time.
That became a reality earlier this week as Nawrot spent Wednesday and part of Thursday with FSU and their coaching staff. The garnet and gold treatment that he received was welcomed with open arms.
"It's been great. Coach Norvell's energy is amazing. The moment I walked in, he made me feel really special. And the whole program, seeing it in person. It is insane how big it all is. Taking it all in and just coming from the north, it's definitely different with the weather. How big everything is," said Nawrot via Noles247.
Nawrot is coming off of a very productive junior year at John Hersey High School. He completed 71% of his passes for 3,078 yards and 41 to just two interceptions. Although he didn't run it much, Nawrot did pick 124 yards rushing and scored eight times on 30 attempts.
The dual-threat ability of Nawrot is something that draws Florida State to him, as well as another important factor.
"I think coach Tucker talked about leadership and that's one thing I really fit. One of those off the field things that's really huge," Nawrot said. "In terms of on the field, they said I can throw and they said I can go make plays with my feet when I have to. I think that's something I can do here at Florida State.
Nawrot went to see Kentucky before visiting FSU and he has visits to Oregon, Iowa, Washington, and Kansas State coming up. He plans to make a decision sometime in the next month or month and a half. At this point, Florida State has made a strong case to land Nawrot.
"It's definitely going to be hard decision and Florida State will definitely be one of the ones that'll be tough to figure out with it all," Nawrot said. "They've been great though, it's been amazing."
Nawrot is the No. 40 overall prospect and the No. 2 quarterback per 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder is the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois as well.
