PHILADELPHIA − The Eagles are continuing their training camp practices on Aug. 8 with Day 8.

We have seen the offense struggle through the first part of practice, but the offense had a strong day on Aug. 7, even without wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon, who have been out with hamstring injuries.

But offensive coordinator Sean Mannion said Aug. 8 he has seen progress, and is encouraged by that.

“He’s growing every day,” Mannion said about QB Jalen Hurts.

Eagles center Cam Jurgens was back at practice after leaving the previous session with an undisclosed injury.
\n
It could have been heat exhaustion as Jurgens walked into the medical tent under his own power, then went inside the facility.

Because of the heat, the Eagles moved up the start of practice by 30 minutes to 9:30 instead of 10 a.m.
\n
Jalen Carter might be flush with a new contract that so far is the biggest for a defensive tackle in NFL history when he signed his four-year extension worth as much as $152 million on July 29.
\n
It hasn't taken long for Carter to show why the Eagles are shelling out all of that money. That's because no player on defense has been as dominant through the first week-plus of Eagles training camp as Carter. And Carter is showing that, not necessarily by "sacks" as much as by the fact that he's swatting away passes at the line of scrimmage.

Carter did this on Aug. 7, and he's done it at least four times since training camp started.
