Every NFL franchise walks away from draft weekend hoping it has found something special. Hope sells relatively easily in April. Reality usually arrives much later. Three years removed from the 2023 NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles have far more than hope. They have evidence.

Howie Roseman and his staff added seven players during that class: Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Tyler Steen, Sydney Brown, Kelee Ringo, Tanner McKee, and Moro Ojomo. That group has already produced legitimate contributors, meaningful starters, and several players who helped power a Super Bowl run. Jalen Carter has already become one of the league's premier interior defenders, earning two Pro Bowl nods and a 2024 Second-Team All-Pro selection. Nolan Smith evolved into one of Philadelphia's most dangerous edge threats when healthy, eventually leading all defenders during the Eagles' 2024 postseason run in both sacks and tackles for loss.

That alone makes this class a success, but there's also depth to discuss. Tyler Steen developed into a starter. Tanner McKee has proven he can function as a capable backup quarterback when called upon. Moro Ojomo, a seventh-round selection, has played like the type of rotational defensive lineman teams usually expect to find far earlier in the draft. Even the so-called misses require context. Sydney Brown is no longer on the roster, but calling him a total failure would be lazy analysis.

He flashed playmaking ability at times, including a memorable 99-yard pick-six, even if it came in a loss. Kelee Ringo may still have limitations in coverage, but valuable special teams contributors absolutely matter when evaluating draft classes.

CBS Sports regrades the Eagles' 2023 NFL draft class

No draft haul is perfect. This one came awfully close. To see how Eagles Wire graded this class after its introduction, click here. Once you're done, check out CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco's take. He recently revisited his original 2023 draft grades and, notably, his opinion of Philadelphia never changed. He handed the Eagles an 'A' three years ago, and he still stands by it.

"They had seven picks in this draft, and six of the seven are on the roster, and the seventh was traded to the Falcons in March. Of the six on the roster, four are starters... The only miss was taking safety, Sydney Brown, in the third, and he even started games before the trade to Atlanta."

Six of the seven original selections either remain on the roster or they provided value before departing. Four became starters. Multiple players helped deliver championship football. That's what strong drafting looks like.

It isn't about perfection. It's about something better, sustained proof that Howie Roseman remains one of football's most dangerous architects when draft weekend arrives. This collection of outstanding players and men provides further evidence. It's been fun to watch them grow
