Revisionist history is all the rage in society, and the NFL is no different, with analysts and so-called experts constantly looking back at their offseason and draft grades years after the fact, once players can actually show what they can do in the NFL.

With teams currently making decisions on the fifth-year options of the 2023 NFL Draft’s first rounders, CBS Sports decided to take a look back at that class and regrade the picks. So, Pete Prisco looked back at his grades from that draft and adjusted them accordingly.

Tennessee Titans2023 grade: B

The skinny: They took guard Peter Skoronski in the first, and he's become a good starter. They then took quarterback Will Levis in the second, but after starting games in his first two seasons -- playing inconsistent football -- he missed all of last season and is now a backup. They also took running back Tyjae Spears in the third, and he's a nice change-of-pace back.

How I did: I loved the pick of Levis in the second, and that hasn't played out. I still think a change of scenery could help his career and lead to him being a starter somewhere else. I thought taking Spears because of injury history was risky, but he's been solid. I liked the pick of Skoronski.

New grade: C-

In former general manager Ran Carthon’s first draft, the Titans landed a building block in Skoronski, but the long-term outlook of the rest of the class is questionable at best. Levis and Spears have both flashed some potential, but have had injury issues, and may not make it to a second contract with the Titans.

Levis is currently locked in a battle with Mitch Trubisky and Hendon Hooker to be Cam Ward’s backup, and could find himself on the outside looking in depending on roster construction. Spears appears safe heading into the season after suffering through an injury-plagued season in 2025. When healthy, he has proved he can be a difference-maker, and a healthy 2026 could help him earn a second contract, with both he and Tony Pollard scheduled to be unrestricted free agents in 2027.

Outside of those three, the remainder of that class, Josh Whyle, Jaelyn Duncan, and Colton Dowell, are no longer with the organization and were never able to carve out a role in Nashville.
