Mar. 25—SIOUX CITY, Iowa. — After reaching the NAIA women's basketball national semifinals, Dakota Wesleyan University standouts Rylee Rosenquist and Avery Broughton were recognized as all-NAIA tournament selections on Tuesday night.
Rosenquist was an all-tournament first-team selection, and Broughton was named to the second team, as the Tigers finished the season with a 29-7 record.
Rosenquist, a senior guard from nearby North Sioux City, South Dakota, averaged 20 points per game in five NAIA tournament games, including a career-high 40 points in DWU's 82-77 quarterfinal win over Bethel (Tenn.) on March 21. She shot nearly 45% in tournament games and was 34-for-41 on free throws, and averaged five rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
Rosenquist was joined on the first team by Marian's Madison Bailey and Abbey McNally and Dordt's Gracie Schoonhoven and Macy Sievers.
Broughton averaged 14.8 points per game in the NAIA tournament, including a 21-point outing in the quarterfinal win over Bethel. Broughton shot 49% from the field and had 8.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game, including five swatted shots in the semifinals against Marian.
The rest of the all-tournament second team includes Dakota State's Bria Wasmund and Tabor Teel, Dordt's Willow Bleeker, and Marian's Kiley McNally.
Abbey McNally was selected as the tournament MVP after Marian's 73-61 win over Dordt on Tuesday night, handing the Knights their first national championship since 2017 and third in school history. McNalley had 17 points and 15 rebounds in the title game, which was the last of five consecutive double-doubles in tournament play. Dordt's Macy Sievers received the tournament's Hustle Award.
