If you haven’t seen it yet, stop here and go look at the final play in Duke’s insane 87-85 win over LSU in the women’s Sweet 16.

It doesn’t have quite the majesty of Christian Laettner’s legendary buzzer beater against Kentucky, but it’s arguably the best buzzer beater in the women’s game since Charlotte Smith’s 1994 buzzer beater gave UNC the championship over Louisiana Tech.

It’s the play of the day over at ESPN, and it’ll be on loop for Duke women’s basketball for decades to come. It will become legend.

Drama was needed, because LSU rattled off a 11-point comeback in the last three and a half minutes or so, and took an 85-84 lead with just 0:09 left on two Mikaylah Williams’ free throws.

Taina Mair missed a three-pointer with 0:06 left, but Duke got the ball back with 0:02 left to set up Jackson’s heroics.

Jackson finished with 19 points and 5 assists. Toby Fournier and Taina Mair wrapped up with 22 each.

Fournier had 9 rebounds while Arianna Roberson had 10 boards off the bench.

This team has been an absolute joy. Since losing to LSU in the ACC-SEC Challenge, Duke has gone 24-2.

UCLA looms on Sunday, and that will be difficult, but at this point, we won’t put much past this group.
