In less than one week, the Washington Commanders will be on the clock.

Thor Nystrom of Skor North was talking about next week's 2026 NFL Draft and the Commanders as a guest on the BMitch & Finlay Show on 106.7 The Fan on Thursday.

Nystrom doesn't see much variety when talking about the first two selections next Thursday. He said the Raiders will draft Fernando Mendoza and that he (Nystrom) has been mocking David Bailey (Texas Tech) all along to the New York Jets at No. 2.

Would Nystrom draft a running back as early as No. 4-8?

"There are so few of the blue-chip guys there at the top that would demand that you go with the more valuable position." However, with a dearth of those guys there this year, Nystrom said he can see drafting Jeremiyah Love earlier than normal. "That's how you see guys like Jeremiyah Love and Caleb Downs get moved up into that echelon we are talking about, top five or top seven."

What are the odds then, Jeremiyah Love, the Notre Dame running back, makes it to the Commanders at No. 7?"I would say (pause) about 28%. I think all of those teams up there are (in play for Love). You have to have such a serious conversation about what he can do for an offense. So in this draft class, I think he is in play pretty quickly there."

As for wide receiver, would the Commanders go for one at No. 7, especially if Love is already taken? What about Carnell Tate? "I think on my board I have Carnell Tate at either nine or ten. And I have (WR) Jordyn Tyson right behind him at 11 or 12. If not for his injuries, he would be my clear WR1 in this class. I think he would then be the consensus WR1 in this class." Nystrom also warned that teams may not want to select receivers in the first round, thinking they can obtain a good player at another position, believing there is so much depth among receivers in this class that they can select one later.

Nystrom's surprise in the first round? He confidently has Miami DE Rueben Bain Jr. as No. 2 on his own personal draft board. He believes in Bain a great deal based on game film. For him, the film weighs more than the arm length on Bain. "When you have thunderous power like that to punch through, it tends to mitigate a lack of reach. He's going to punch right through your reach advantage."
