There are a lot of questions regarding the roster of the Miami Dolphins, and whether the current construction can lead to some big wins.

With training camp taking off at the end of July, many questions will be answered. That said, it's time to look at each position group and where it stands before the team takes the field for the 2026 season.

While the position battles will be aplenty, the quarterback room is a bit more clear cut.

Dolphins Quarterbacks on the Roster

Malik Willis

Malik Willis was the only expensive free agent that was brought in, which makes sense due to general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley also coming from the Green Bay Packers.

Willis was awarded a three-year, $67.5 million deal in hopes that he could emerge as the starting quarterback of the future. The issue is the former Packers backup has six starts in his NFL career.

Willis showcased some strong skills when he took over for the injured Jordan Love in 2025. In four games, he picked up 422 passing yards, three touchdowns, 123 rushing yards, and two touchdowns.

Quinn Ewers

Quinn Ewers was drafted in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the intention of being the developmental passer for the Dolphins. However, the downfall of Tua Tagovailoa led to the rookie landing the starting job by default.

Ewers brought in 633 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions during four games, and showed he may just be backup material.

Cam Miller

Cam Miller was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but did not make the final 53-man roster. After being signed to and released from the practice squad, he joined the Dolphins in January.

Miller is likely to battle it out for the third-string practice squad position.

Mark Gronowski

Mark Gronowski is an undrafted free agent from Iowa who posted a 49-6 record while with South Dakota State. He is set to offer competition to Miller to determine the practice squad passer for 2026.

Biggest Quarterback Questions

The biggest question for the Dolphins quarterback room is whether or not Willis can truly emerge as the starting option that Hafley believes him to be. Through OTAs and minicamp, there have been chemistry issues with the receivers.

Things are still new for Willis and the Dolphins roster, so ironing out the chemistry will need to happen.

Additionally, and a more important question. Can Ewers push Willis to be better? Ewers is in his second year in this system, as Bobby Slowik was the passing game coordinator in 2025 and is now the offensive coordinator.

With Ewers having a leg up in regard to the offense, he may look better than Willis at times, but that may not lead to him stealing away the starting position after the Dolphins sank over $60 million for the former Packers signal caller.
