The Miami Dolphins have two virtual unknowns atop their quarterback depth chart, as they brought in Malik Willis, an unproven veteran with four years in the league, to join Quinn Ewers, a second-year player who mostly sat on the bench as a rookie.

While Ewers has more time in the system, Willis will start in 2026 after spending the last two years with new Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley in Green Bay and having some success in limited opportunities.

With Thursday marking the end of Miami's offseason program, Hafley explained the growth that he's seen from Willis and Ewers over the last month or so.

"Yeah, progress," Hafley told reporters in his final media availability before the long break. "They’re more comfortable within the scheme. They’ve taken more command of the huddle. They've taken more command when they're out there with the wideouts, confidence. I've seen the confidence grow and even the conversation I had with Malik today, walking down the hallway, you can just see he's more comfortable and he understands the answers that are being provided for him on each play. And I just think he looks as good as he looks since I've known him.

"And I would say the same about Quinn. I think Quinn's gotten better, and I just think Bobby (Slowik) and Bush (Hamdan) and KP (Kevin Patullo), I think they've all done a really good job in that room, and it will be exciting to really ramp them up when we get to training camp."

If either of these quarterbacks wants to be around long term, they'll have to prove themselves in training camp and the preseason before Week 1 comes. From that point on, things will just get more difficult.
