If Andrew Friedman believes he has a problem at the trade deadline, he's going to go out and do whatever it takes for the Los Angeles Dodgers to improve.
I expect that to be the case once again, as that's all he's done during his time as the decision-maker in Los Angeles. It's almost crazy to say the Dodgers can get better, but considering some of the injuries they've dealt with over the past few years, it's definitely an avenue worth considering.
Specifically, the Dodgers are always going to try to improve on the mound, whether that means in the starting rotation or bullpen. In a recent trade proposal, they'd get one of the best relievers in baseball history from the Houston Astros.
Dodgers receive: Josh Hader
Astros receive: Mike Sirota, River Ryan, Cam Leiter
“This specific trade is intriguing. Since Hader has multiple years of team control remaining, any team that trades for him will need to surrender a quality return. Sirota, 22, is the team's No. 4 overall prospect. Meanwhile, Ryan and Leiter check in at No. 6 and No. 21 overall in LA's farm system,” Joey Mistretta wrote.
Hader hasn't been healthy this season, which does worry me a bit for the Dodgers. I definitely understand the reasoning for going after him because his history suggests that he's just as good as anybody in baseball, but he's yet to throw in a big league game in the 2026 campaign.
When we look at his career, there haven't been many better, so the Dodgers just might go with that and say that they're fine with taking the risk.
I would definitely understand going out and getting him, even if the price is a bit higher than Los Angeles wants to pay.
