It’s uncertain what the Toronto Blue Jays will do at the deadline, but one can make a strong argument that they're the most interesting team in the league heading into it.
The Blue Jays have a few pieces who could help a contending team, but with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. locked into a long-term extension, there could also be a scenario where Toronto looks to add to its roster.
But don’t count on that.
If the Blue Jays decide to sell, the Los Angeles Dodgers could be interested in Chris Bassitt, even if it's just to eat innings while other guys get healthy.
Bassitt has been excellent to start the year, but more importantly, he has thrown at least 157.1 innings in each of the past four seasons. Having spent time with the Oakland Athletics, where he was an All-Star in 2021, the New York Mets, and the Blue Jays, he's well-versed and understands what it takes to be in a big-league locker room.
Greg Amsinger of MLB Network recently named the 11-year major leaguer a trade candidate, adding that the Blue Jays aren't going to a World Series, and they could get a haul in return for him.

“Number four, I don't think the Blue Jays are going to the World Series. I don't see them as a playoff team. Chris Bassitt has got to go. He's in a walk year, 10. 2K per nine. His ERA is sparkling. You could get a haul for this right-hander. He's been around the league for a while. He's kind of funky in terms of his mechanics. I like Chris Bassitt,” he said.
The Dodgers feel like the perfect team to make a move for the right-hander. They always find a way to make under-the-radar deals, and Bassitt would be just that.
Perhaps he isn't as good as he's shown to be over his first six outings of the season, but even if he regresses a bit and has a 3.50 ERA, the Dodgers would love to have that in the rotation while other guys get healthy.
With Tyler Glasnow out, the Dodgers could use another right-hander.
