As expected, the Los Angeles Dodgers have placed starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow on the 15-day injured list, their official X account announced:

The Dodgers recalled RHP Noah Davis and placed RHP Tyler Glasnow on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation.

Glasnow exited his Sunday start after just one inning with right shoulder discomfort. This comes one outing after he left early with calf cramping.

This also marks the next chapter in a long injury story for the 31-year-old. He has only pitched in 20-plus games twice in his career (2023, 21 and 2024, 22) and has missed substantial time for various injuries: Tommy John surgery, elbow tendinitis, back tightness, an oblique strain, and a right forearm strain.

Now, Glasnow will be sidelined, and his exact target return date is currently unknown.

This is a brutal blow not only for Glasnow, who has expressed his frustration surrounding his health, but for the Dodgers, who are already running thin in the starting rotation. Clayton Kershaw, Shohei Ohtani, and Tony Gonsolin have not yet pitched. Blake Snell is on the 15-day IL and was recently shut down from pitching.

Sure, Los Angeles still has an elite trio of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, and Dustin May, but losing Glasnow is a devastating development. The 6-foot-8 star was having a fine start to his second Dodgers campaign, with a 4.50 ERA, a 5.38 FIP, and a 23-to-11 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 18 innings.

But we know what he can do at full strength.

After making his first all-star appearance in 2024, this year seemed like a golden opportunity for Glasnow to shed his injury-prone label and establish himself once again among the elite pitchers in baseball.

Now, Glasnow faces further uncertainty as his career is derailed by another injury. Los Angeles can still take its time with Glasnow’s recovery, as it is sitting comfortably at 18-10, even with a recent slump, but this is tough news regardless.
