The Los Angeles Dodgers promoted No. 7 prospect Jackson Ferris to Triple-A on Tuesday, when he is set to make his debut at the level.
Ferris, 22, came to the Dodgers along with Zyhir Hope in the trade which sent Michael Busch to the Chicago Cubs in 2024.
He began his time with the Dodgers that season, posting a 3.20 ERA across High-A and Double-A as he won the Dodgers’ Minor League Pitcher of the Year award for that season, and had a 3.86 ERA through 26 appearances in 2025 in his first full season at Double-A.
Ferris had a strong—although short—spring with the Dodgers, pitching 2.2 innings in two appearances in the Cactus League. He struck out one batter in that time and didn’t allow a run through either appearance.
While in spring training, Ferris said he wanted to give the Dodgers no choice but to call him up to the big leagues in 2026.
“At the end of the day I’ve got to force their hand,” Ferris told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain. “Do what I can do, and hopefully at the end of the day this year could be the year.”
Additionally, Ferris detailed how he planned to improve for the new season.
“I’ve been working on my changeup a lot lately because I just feel like I was fastball-slider mainly the last couple years, so working on my changeup and then adding a spike to my curveball,” Ferris said.
“It’s really helped it like, just get sharper later movement. So both of those two things are what I worked on a lot this past offseason and then early on here in spring.”

What Do Analysts Think About Jackson Ferris?
MLB.com ranks Ferris as a 50-grade prospect, which ranks at average as far as the 20-80 scale is concerned. His fastball and slider are the only marks he has higher than 50 on the scale, with the latter coming in at a 60—well above average.
“Ferris’ fastball works at 92-95 mph and reaches 97, and its combination of extension, flat approach angle and carry allows him to miss barrels when he locates it well,” Ferris’ MLB.com scouting report reads. “His best pitch is a plus mid-80s slider with good depth, and he almost exclusively relied on his heater and slide piece last season. He lost trust in his upper-70s downer curveball and mid-80s changeup when he couldn’t land them for strikes regularly.
“The 6-foot-4 Ferris will go through spells where he struggles to repeat his three-quarters delivery and stay lined up to the plate, which hurts his ability to locate his pitches. Even when he reduced his ERA from 5.54 in his first 15 outings to 1.97 in his final 12 starts last year, he still battled his control and command. He did successfully navigate Double-A at age 21 and can become a mid-rotation starter if he adds more polish.”
