Tarik Skubal continues to float as a popular trade candidate for the Los Angels Dodgers. Such a move could now involve Zyhir Hope ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline.
Baseball insider for the New York Post Jon Heyman dropped the update on Saturday.
“Dodgers scratched big-time OF prospect Zyhir Hope. Word is he’s on standby in case of a trade. No trade known done yet but Hope (No. 25 MLB prospect) would only be part of a huge trade. He’s that good,” Heyman posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

The theory rose that a Skubal deal would involve a top 25 prospect. Hence why Hope’s name has surfaced here.
The 21-year-old entered the league via the 2023 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Colonial Forge High School in Stafford, Virginia. He now ranks as the fifth-best overall minor league prospect in the Dodgers’ system.
Manager Dave Roberts and the Dodgers find themselves in a tough spot with their pitching. Skubal-to-LA thoughts sparked higher amid Shohei Ohtani’s knee injury. Ohtani became a scratch against both the Seattle Mariners on July 30 and versus the Boston Red Sox. Plus the Dodgers still haven’t welcomed back their other key ace Blake Snell from his own injury.
Yet the Dodgers continue to put together the league’s best record at 69-41 overall. Los Angeles is still one game ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers in the race to land the National League’s top seed come playoff time. Also lurking are the Atlanta Braves, who landed Luis Castillo via the Seattle Mariners on Saturday evening.
