The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting back lefty Jack Dreyer soon, as he avoids a rehabilitation assignment and will return upon the expiration of his time on the injured list.

Dreyer is a swingman who can start some games if needed, but he has been relegated to the bullpen for the most part, though he is increasingly relied upon by manager Dave Roberts.

The 27-year-old is having a spectacular 2026, with a 2.08 ERA over 21.2 innings. He only has a WHIP, too.

However, the Dodgers shut him down with shoulder soreness back in mid-May, hoping to avoid any kind of damage happening to the most sensitive part of a pitcher’s arm.

Dreyer was found to just have shoulder inflammation after a scan, something that naturally happens to pitchers over the course of the season. It came up during warming up and led to his move to the IL on May 17.

He is set to be activated on Monday, Jun 1, once his time on the injured list ends.

The Dodgers have been rolling him out for bullpen sessions and live batting practice in the meantime, and he has responded well. As long as his shoulder continues to hold up during recovery, the Dodgers will be getting him back.

He is a flyball pitcher who relies on his slider-fastball combination. He uses the heater for other lefties and the slider to those whiffs against righties.

Additionally, his fastball velocity was up on the year, and he looks to be building on his strong 2025 rookie season, which came out of nowhere.

The Dodgers’ bullpen is playing at an elite level, ranking among the top three in baseball, even with Dreyer missing time and other high-profile arms sidelined.

LA has the depth to cope without Dreyer, but ask Dave Roberts or the organization, and they will welcome him back with open arms as a truly flexible chess piece who can serve in all kinds of leverage roles.
