Dodgers' 2-time World Series champion, All-Star retires from MLB after 12 seasons originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Early in his MLB career, Chris Taylor was a utility infielder for the Seattle Mariners who seemed like he might not last.

But then he went to the Los Angeles Dodgers, discovered a surprising power stroke and became a two-time World Series champion.

It was quite the rise for Taylor, who also had an All-Star nod and an NLCS MVP on his ledger.

That career ended Friday, when Taylor officially retired from baseball while playing at Triple-A in the Angels' organization.

Chris Taylor has announced his retirement after 12 Major League seasons spent across the Mariners, Dodgers and Angels. He won two World Series rings with the Dodgers (2020 and 2024), was an All-Star in 2021 and was named co-NLCS MVP in 2017. pic.twitter.com/tODUSnWtyi

Taylor hung up his cleats at age 35.

He was originally a fifth-round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft by the Mariners out of the University of Virginia.

He played his first 86 MLB games with the Mariners and hit just .240 without a single home run.

He went on to play 1,007 games with the Dodgers, batting .250 with 184 doubles, 108 home runs and 423 RBI.

Taylor closed out his career at the MLB level in 2025 with 30 games with the Angels.

Now, he'll move into the next step of his journey, having made the most out of his talent in the major leagues along the way.
