HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – It was an action-packed night of Little League Baseball in Horseheads Monday.

A night filled with offense, two solid teams and plenty of rain in the New York State District 6 Championship in the 9/10 division. Corning National pushed ahead of host Horseheads 8-7 before the game was suspended due to poor playing field conditions. Action will resume in the top of the 4th inning Tuesday at 7:30 pm at Horseheads Little League underneath the lights to crown a champion.

Horseheads’ Griffin Malnoske delivered a bases clearing triple in the top of 3rd inning breaking a 2-2 tie giving Horseheads a 5-2 lead. Then, up 7-2 heading into the bottom of the 3rd, Corning stormed back scoring several runs on errors and passed balls behind the plate giving them an 8-7 edge heading into the 4th. Wyatt Hunter scored on a wild pitch for Corning giving the National squad the lead as the District 6 crown will now be decided Tuesday night

The game was called ahead of the 4th inning as the field was deemed to be unplayable from the sustained rain throughout the course of the game.

18 Sports will have more Tuesday night on the final result of the District 6 final.
