Trevor Lawrence did not cut the hair. Everybody breathe.
The former Clemson quarterback had Jaguars fans and Clemson fans in a full-blown identity crisis during Jacksonville’s schedule release video, where it looked like Lawrence had finally chopped off the long hair that had followed him from Clemson legend to NFL franchise quarterback.
For a few minutes, it felt real. Lawrence was in the barber chair; the Jaguars titled the video “The Cut"; and the internet did what the internet does best: panic first, investigate later.
Then, fans started zooming in more.
One close-up from the video appeared to show the outline of a wig near the back of Lawrence’s neck, which quickly turned the whole thing from emotional disaster to elite schedule-release trolling. Jacksonville got exactly what it wanted. Nobody was talking about Week 1. Nobody was breaking down road trips. Everybody was staring at Trevor Lawrence’s fake haircut like it was the death of their favorite movie characters.
For Clemson fans, the relief is real. Lawrence’s hair is not just hair at this point. It is part of one of the most recognizable looks in Clemson football history. It is THE national championship hair, THE No. 1 overall pick hair.
The Jaguars may not have taken the hair, but they absolutely took over the timeline. That is a win for the schedule reveal department, even if Clemson fans briefly had to imagine a world where Trevor Lawrence walked around with a comb-over.
