The Jacksonville Jaguars found a way to steal attention during the NFL schedule release, and it had very little to do with football.
In the team’s schedule reveal video, former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence appeared to be getting a dramatic haircut, immediately sending fans into a frenzy online. With Lawrence sitting in a barber chair and the video carrying the title “The Cut,” many viewers believed the Jaguars quarterback had finally moved on from the long hairstyle that became closely tied to his rise from Clemson star to NFL franchise quarterback.
The reaction was immediate across social media, especially from Clemson fans who have associated Lawrence’s look with some of the biggest moments in program history, including the Tigers’ national championship run and his rise to becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
As the video continued circulating online, fans began noticing signs that the haircut was not real. Several screenshots appeared to show what looked like a wig line near the back of Lawrence’s neck, confirming the entire moment was part of Jacksonville’s plan to generate attention around its schedule release.
The strategy worked perfectly. Instead of focusing strictly on opponents and game dates, much of the conversation centered around Lawrence’s appearance and the viral reaction that followed.
While the Jaguars succeeded in creating one of the more talked-about schedule release videos of the night, Clemson fans can relax knowing Lawrence’s signature hair is still very much intact.
