Diamondbacks Assistant GM likely next GM of the NY Mets

Pavin Smith may have not shot through the minors but he actually showed a little flash the last 12 games of last season.

The 2017 draft hasn't exactly delivered any major impact player at this moment. Adam Haseley looks pretty good but aside from him who exactly did ARZ miss on taking Smith?

 

Good question - I looked at the 2017 draft (first two rounds) and it is a whole lot of meh at this point

Keston Hiura was clearly the best hitter on the board but the DBacks reached for Smith because they wanted a replacement for Goldschmidt.

 

Well lets just say there are a ton of guys in that range that are in the top 100 prospects in Baseball and Pavin Smith barely scratches the DBacks top 10. He isn't in a top 200 range.

Compared to say Hiura, who has already put in a RotY type season

I will respectfully disagree that this was a meh class.
