Earlier this week, we published our latest SB Nation Reacts survey, sponsored by the folks at FanDuel Sportsbook, and asked Detroit Lions fans:Which new Lions player are you most excited to see in pads at training camp?

For this survey, we provided fans with five options to choose from, including first-round pick Blake Miller, second-round pick Derrick Moore, prized free agent Cade Mays, new edge starter DJ Wonnum, and power runner Isiah Pacheco. We also gave fans the option to select “other” and share a player they preferred more in the comments.

Let’s take a look at the results from our survey:

It’s no surprise that Lions fans are most excited to see how the rookies perform in pads at training camp, as their first two draft picks earned nearly two-thirds of the votes in this survey. However, you could argue that number should even be higher, as the “other” category earned 9% of the vote, and most of the comment section listed mainly other rookies as their choices, including fourth-round pick LB Jimmy Rolder, UDFA LB Erick Hunter, and UDFA TE Miles Kitselman. That being said, a few other veterans also drew some interest, such as OG Ben Bartch and safety Chuck Clark.

Let’s take a look at the comment section of our original article andThe FEED post to see fans’ explanations for their selections (slightly edited for clarity).

  • Lenny20: “I am anxious to see Miller and how he holds up against Hutch and our newly acquired edge rushers.”
  • ULTIMATEpunisher007: “I’m going to say all the new OL players. Miller, Borom, and Mays. Those are big-time additions this year that need to gel quickly.”
  • UpAllNight (from the article): “This year’s draft class shows lots of promise, and that includes the UDFAs, but the most exciting one is Derrick Moore.”
  • UpAllNight (from the FEED): “All the rookies but especially Moore.”

As a reminder, this survey was sponsored by the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook, who currently have the Lions listed as +1800 to win this year’s Super Bowl, +900 to win the NFC Championship, and +150 to win the NFC North as the current favorites.

Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Detroit Lions fans and fans across the country. If you want to receive these surveys by email weekly, you can sign up here.
