The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have one of the NFL's strongest offensive lines, but ESPN doesn't believe right tackle Luke Goedeke would command the same trade value as some of the league's elite players.
In a recent exercise projecting trade value across the NFL, ESPN's Bill Barnwell placed several Buccaneers into different value tiers. Tristan Wirfs, Emeka Egbuka, and Rueben Bain Jr. all received standalone trade projections, but Goedeke was listed among the notable players who fell short of those categories.
Barnwell made it clear the omission wasn't because of Goedeke's play. Instead, he pointed to the veteran tackle's availability throughout his career, noting that Goedeke has been one of the league's better right tackles when healthy but has missed significant time over his first four NFL seasons.
That assessment reflects the balancing act teams face when evaluating players. Goedeke has consistently shown he can be a quality starter, but durability is often just as important as production when front offices assign trade value.
The fact that Barnwell grouped Goedeke alongside players such as Yaya Diaby, Calijah Kancey, Baker Mayfield, Vita Vea and Antoine Winfield Jr. also says something about Tampa Bay's roster. He argued the Buccaneers have plenty of good players but relatively few who currently carry elite league-wide trade value.
From the Buccaneers' perspective, Goedeke's trade value is largely irrelevant. Tampa Bay has no reason to move one of its starting offensive tackles, especially with Baker Mayfield entering the final year of his contract. Keeping continuity along the offensive line will be a priority, and Goedeke remains a key part of a unit anchored by All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs.
If Goedeke can stay healthy throughout the 2026 season, it's possible his league-wide perception changes. He's already proven he can play winning football at right tackle, and another full season could remove one of the biggest concerns surrounding his long-term value.
