Year two for Shedeur Sanders is a massive year for his career. It is pretty much his tryout to stay in Cleveland, as the Browns have two first-round picks in next year's draft, one of which could presumably be used on a quarterback if things go sideways again next year.

Or, the Browns can use their draft capital to build around Sanders as the future of their team.

Typically, when approaching a season like this, a team doesn't trade away a generational player, but the Browns did, and the truth is that they got a fair return for him.

Myles Garrett is no longer a Cleveland Brown and no longer a teammate of Sanders. Weeks ago, when the rumors began to surface, Sanders' father Deion weighed in on the matter on Garrett Bush's Show saying, “They got a killer on defense, I’m tired of y’all talking about trading him and getting rid of him,” Sanders told Garrett Bush before the trade. “That don’t make no sense to me. That’s a once-in-a-lifetime man. That’s a once-in-a-lifetime man that you don’t see no more. I don’t get rid of that. Unless I could get your mama, daddy, your uncle, your cousins, and everybody in a trade for that. Because that’s a grown man, that’s a winner. That’s a winner.”

Well, against Coach Prime's wishes, the Browns made the deal, and Deion changed his tune pretty significantly. As part of his media tour, Prime told DJ Saddiq, "I’m happy with Mr. [Andrew] Berry, the G.M., and what he’s doing, I’m not going to question his direction of what he’s bringing to the table... I’m not there, so I don’t know all the intangibles that provoked that trade. I’m happy with what they got, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.”

Deion Sanders was strongly against the idea of the Browns trading Myles Garrett. Now that the trade has happened, Deion is on board. https://t.co/oFBW4bYYB3

Two different messages, but I think it is truly the reaction of just about everyone who has evaluated or spent any sort of time thinking about the deal. Getting a return of a top-25 player in the league, along with three draft picks, is a pretty solid haul.

Now, for Shedeur, this makes his job a little tougher, but the reality is that Cleveland is probably two or three years away from competing for it all. If he can prove this year that he has what it takes to be a great quarterback in this league, then the Browns can build around that.

Showing that has nothing to do with who is playing defensive end for Cleveland. It's up to Sanders to show what he can do, and it is up to Berry to continue to build this team.

As the dust continues to settle on the Myles trade, this is going to continue to be the prevailing thought, especially when we start seeing the returns next season.
