Declan Doyle says rookie Vega Ioane already feels like a veteran

The Ravens added several new pieces to their offense during the draft, and rookie offensive lineman Vega Ioane is already making a positive impression on the coaching staff. While the team remains in the early stages of offseason workouts, offensive coordinator Declan Doyle said Ioane has looked every bit like the player Baltimore expected when evaluating him during the draft process.

"Athletically, Vega's as impressive as I would have expected watching his tape," Doyle said. "There's nothing that I'm seeing that I didn't see on his tape."

Doyle's praise extended beyond Ioane's physical tools. One of the qualities that has stood out most during OTAs has been the rookie's ability to integrate quickly into an experienced offensive line.

"You almost don't notice him," Doyle said. "He's in there, and he's a rookie, but he feels like a veteran from his communication or from his relationship with the guys around him."

For a young offensive lineman, earning the trust and respect of teammates can often take time. According to Doyle, Ioane has already shown the maturity and professionalism necessary to fit in seamlessly. The Ravens will continue evaluating Ioane throughout training camp and the preseason, but the early returns suggest the rookie is off to a strong start as he begins his NFL career in Baltimore.
