They wrote in an official police document that it was the other drivers fault.

The whole thing stinks and the fact Shanahan can call selective members of the media in a closed door meeting and jjust brush it off is mafia like.

So to be clear I'm not blaming Shanahan here, he apparently nearly lost an eye so it's pretty likely he was in the hospital or laid up for days. I don't think HE is the one that decided to cover this up. He's the one that came clean when they blamed the other driver.

I'm just saying the story we have so far doesn't make any sense. If it's exactly what he said why is Palo Alto PD refusing to release anything? The only logical reason why is there's something they don't want public

Just one story explaining why people think this is weird. this doesn't go into the Tesla angle jsut the idea people may be covering for Shanahan.

If you look at like 49er webzone there's a huge Shanahan thread and the last several pages are all about this. Lots of them are real clear they don't believe the official story, nobody who lives there does the question is who are they protecting?

This story says the other person wasn't injured, there's multiple articles that say she was, minor but she was has been reported.
I'm not big into conspiracy theories but I have to believe there are some shenanigans going on with Shanahan-igan. This is developing into something. Why hasn't the 21 year old come clean and given her side of the story if she had minor injuries? Are the 49'ers stacking the deck to buy her out and keep her mouth shut? Maybe that's why it took 11 days to be announced as her attorney worked out a deal. Or... has Russini moved on to Shanahan-igan trying to destroy his life as well?

Look, I don't care much because it is somewhat of a dead time in the NFL and I'm tired of reading the same ole stories but this has the makings of a show. Maybe we can send the FBI out to investigate because what I don't get is why withhold information on the accident. Something else is mighty fishy on Pier 39.

The footage might not be getting released as a cover for the officers and not Shanahan. The way the timeline on this has gone I could fully see an officer telling him not to worry that they'll cover it up for him or something along those lines.

How do they allow those driverless taxi cabs to operate in California? I know they are around I saw them all over last year.

Trying to avoid politics so bear with me.

Waymo has approval in limited use because Waymo has proven they can meet the required safety, Waymo has cameras, lidar and radar.

Tesla is limited because it has NOT proven it can, it has cameras but not lidar or radar.. Tesla robotaxis in most cases have to have someone in the driver seat ready to take over. The places where that has been waived, they're required to monitor the cars remotely by camera and software and be able to remote take over and stop or steer them

FSD n Teslas requires you to promise you will supervise as the car drives and take over if necessary. They have cameras and software that monitors the driver. So if you're on your phone not looking, sleeping etc the cameras see you and signal Tesla. There are penalties if you get caught 3 times they uninstall it from you car, and you can get fined.

But the big risk is the state law, you are fully liable both for any criminal charges and any financial obligations. It also completely absolves your insurance company if you were in FSD and not monitoring it, your insurance doesn't pay for anything you do.

Which would be literally incredibly stupid on body cam and the department should be firing their asses if that’s the case.

Yeah, it would be a stupid thing to do when wearing body cam. It's not the good ol' boy days anymore. There's a lot of speculation though about what Shanahan was doing or with and I wanted to point out that there are some other possibilities. So far it seems like Shanahan has manned up to what happened so I think there's a chance that something else is in play.
