Dawn Staley Hails Olivia Miles While Unveiling Wild WNBA Logo Idea For Lynx Star

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley knows how good Olivia Miles is. As Staley watched the former TCU star leading the charge for the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, the Gamecocks’ guru was in utter amazement.

“@oliviamiles06 got me in my house cursing on a Sunday. Lord have mercy! @WNBA I saw a logo change in this app…..use it!” Staley tweeted.

Staley went on to post an image of a modified WNBA logo, which bore the unmistakable hairstyle and glasses of the Lynx court general.

“Here it is!! GEEZ US!!”

The subject of Staley’s astonishment was Miles’ latest showstopping performance. In the Lynx’s 108-100 win over the Indiana Fever, Miles dropped 28 points on 11-for-14 FG shooting to go along with four rebounds, six assists, and one block.

Miles, who was taken No. 2 by Minnesota in this year’s WNBA draft, has helped the Lynx stay at the top of the standings despite the prolonged absence of Napheesa Collier. In her rookie season, Miles is averaging 19.7 ppg on 50.2% shooting from the field, as well as 4.7 rpg, 5.8 apg, and 1.3 spg.

The last time that Staley saw Miles up close, it was in the Elite Eight of the March Madness tournament earlier this year. That night, Miles led the Horned Frogs with 18 points but was limited to 6-for-20 shooting by South Carolina’s defense.

Staley got the better of Miles in that high-stakes contest, but now that Miles is making waves in the WNBA, the Gamecocks coach can’t help but express her awe.

On Sunday, it was Olivia Miles taking home the W as she helped the Lynx spoil Kelsey Mitchell’s 37-point explosion.

After the game, Miles gave Mitchell her flowers while also sharing the advice she got from the Fever star.

“She’s special, and I say this time and time again, she’s also a great human. She garners a lot of respect both on and off the court…I literally just told her, ‘You’re so tough’…Like, ‘What do you eat?’ And she was just laughing and telling me to stay inspired and keep growing the game.”

“Inspired,” of course, would be an appropriate way to describe Miles’ performance on the court in her very first WNBA season.
