Dave Portnoy retracts Boston Red Sox criticism after they treated NY Yankees like minor league teams

Dave Portnoy started the season wanting structural change for the Boston Red Sox, but their recent trade has changed his mind.

The Red Sox took advantage of the trade deadline to land Atley Rutschman from the Baltimore Orioles and Erik Miller from the San Francisco Giants.

With such big roster upgrades heading into the closing stretch of the season, there is an air of excitement among fans of the Red Sox.

Dave Portnoy says Boston Red Sox have proved his earlier criticism wrong​

Taking to X to react to the Boston Red Sox making huge moves at the trade deadline, Dave Portnoy admitted he has changed his mind on the team.

Heading into the season, Portnoy was ready to lead the fan movement demanding FSG sell the team. But after their transactions at the trade deadline, Portnoy is excited for the Red Sox’s season.

“This has been the craziest Red Sox season ever. I got 60,000 ‘sell the team’ towels in storage. We were ready for a full-on protest. The entire city wanted to run Breslow and Henry outta town.

“Now we’re treating the Yankees and Orioles like minor league clubs and are on a crash course to play the Dodgers in the World Series.

“And it’s just a matter of whether we sweep them or not. And on paper, 2 of our 3 biggest superstars haven’t even been part of this streak. Insanity.”

Dave Portnoy says Boston Red Sox will ‘humiliate’ LA Dodgers in World Series​

In another X post, Portnoy predicted that Red Sox, fresh off their win over the LA Dodgers, will go on to defeat the reigning world champions in the World Series.

“We are on a collision course with the Dodgers, and seeing the way we just humiliated them there is no reason to believe we can’t win the whole g—— thing.”

While the Red Sox have done really well for themselves over the last few months, Portnoy might be getting ahead of himself with predictions of a World Series win.

The Dodgers are on the verge of a threepeat for a reason, so they will not be easy to defeat no matter how well the Red Sox played against them in the regular season.
