Josh Hokit dominated and finished Derrick Lewis at UFC White House on Sunday night and decided to attack Michelle Obama in his post-fight interview, and UFC CEO Dana White said he wasn’t pleased with it.
Hokit started off his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan by aiming at Alex Pereira, who later that night would face off with Ciryl Gane for the vacant interim heavyweight title. And immediately after that, he aimed at the former First Lady,
“Lastly, Michele Obama is a man,” Hokit said. “Am I right, America?”

Dana White wasn’t asked about that quote during the post-fight press conference, but commented on it via text message to TIME.
“I understand that the Obama’s are public figures but I’m completely against saying nasty and false things about people’s families,” White wrote. “Everyone knows my position on free speech but I hate that kind of nonsense.”
This is not the first time Hokit has used a post-fight interview to attack Michelle Obama. However, saying those words on a LFA event doesn’t get the same repercussion of commenting about Michelle Obama on a UFC event that is held on the south lawn of the White House with president Donald Trump sitting octagon side.
Hokit’s comments drew negative feedback in the political world, too with Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury calling it “disgusting.”
“Ok, so let me get this straight,” Stansbury wrote on social media. “The dude who puked on himself live on TV during his weigh in, is hurling insults at the former First Lady now? Disgusting. Welcome to the Trump Administration.”

So is this the kind of trash we can expect from @paramountplus (and @cbs) now? https://t.co/yWnVjgelm0

Asked for comment about UFC Fighter Josh Hokit saying “Michelle Obama is a man” in his post fight interview, WH spokesman Steven Cheung said “He had a great win last night. He showed toughness and the ability to pressure his opponent both on his feet and on the ground.”
