Dec. 16—MITCHELL — Dakota Riptide swimmers racked up event victories and top finishes at the Riptide Winter Invitational on Dec. 12-14 at the Mitchell Recreation Center.
In the girls age 17 and older division, Addyson Moody took first place in five events for the Riptide, winning the 200-yard individual medley (2:43.19), 200 breaststroke (3:01.96), 200 backstroke (2:44.42), 400 IM (5:52.79) and 500 freestyle (6:42.07). Moody was second in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 100 freestyle and 100 IM.
Cora Hofer won four events, including the 50 freestyle (27.19), 50 backstroke (32.56), 100 breaststroke (1:18.92) and 100 backstroke (1:10.71), plus took second in the 50 breaststroke, 100 freestyle and 100 IM. Rorey Koch scored event victories in the 200 freestyle (2:29.63) and the 1000 freestyle (13:56.69), and took second in the 50 freestyle, 100 back, 200 breast, 200 back and 500 freestyle.
For girls ages 15-16, Alexandra Stange led the way with seven first-place times. She was tops in the 100 freestyle (1:00.28), 100 backstroke (1:11.00), 100 IM (1:11.17), 100 butterfly (1:15.30). 200 IM (2:29.78), 200 backstroke (2:34.29) and 400 IM (5:23.85), plus a second-place time in the 200 breaststroke. Bella Russell had a pair of wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.55) and 200 breaststroke (2:54.17), and was second in the 100 freestyle.
Hadasah Olson won the 50 freestyle (31.70) and 50 backstroke (37.42), and took second in the 50 breast and 100 breast. Mataya Mutziger landed on the medal stand seven times, with second-place times in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 400 IM and 500 freestyle, plus third place in the 100 IM, 200 backstroke and 1,000 free. Katie Gukeisen added second-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke, 200 freestyle and 1,000 freestyle, plus third-place marks in 200 breaststroke and 400 IM.
In the girls age 13-14 group, Quinnley Miner had eight first-place finishes, claiming titles in the 50 butterfly (31.66), 50 free (28.10), 100 free (1:00.67), 200 free (2:15.11), 50 back (34.13), 100 back (1:13.76), 100 IM (1:13.05), 200 IM (2:37.50).
Khloe Pfeifer was a first-place winner in two girls age 11-12 races, winning the 200 freestyle (2:26.67) and the 200 IM (2:41.66), and was second in the 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 100 free, 100 backstroke and 200 breaststroke and third in the 100 IM.
Kiersten Mittlestedt was second in the 50 breaststroke, 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, plus third in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 backstroke. Nora Bietz was second in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle and Trinity Pickett was second in the 100 butterfly and third in the 500 freestyle.
In the 9-10 girls group, Aleyna Broughton finished with five first-place finishes. She won the 50 breast (48.34), 100 freestyle (1:19.99), 200 free (2:39.38), 200 IM (3:18.26) and 500 free (7:26.94), plus finished second in the 100 backstroke. Amelia Brenden had a pair of race victories, winning the 50 freestyle (39.08) and 100 breaststroke (1:54.93), she was second in the 50 breaststroke and third in the 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 free and 200 IM.
Maci Davis won the 50 backstroke (44.78), 100 IM (1:41.02) and 100 backstroke (1:32.75), and she took second in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free and 50 butterfly and third in the 500 free.
Maggie Thompson was a winner in the 50 butterfly (48.92). Natalie Morgan was second in the 100 IM and 50 backstroke, plus finished third in the 50 breaststroke. Marley Miller finished third in the 100 IM and 50 backstroke.
For the 8-and-under girls, Quinn Walder finished first in five events, including the 25 butterfly (27.98), 50 freestyle (48.12), 50 backstroke (52.78), 100 backstroke (1:51.45) and 100 medley (1:58.45), and added a pair of second-place finishes in the 25 freestyle and 200 freestyle.
Nora Broughton won three events in the 25 freestyle (19.32), the 25 backstroke (22.16) and the 200 freestyle (3:53.71), and was second in the 50 breaststroke. Collins Pfeifer was first in two events, winning the 25 breaststroke (32.57) and 50 butterfly (1:19.26) and added second-place finishes in the 50 back, 100 freestyle and 100 IM, plus third-place finishes in the 25 freestyle and 25 butterfly.
Waverly Wheeler scored a first-place finish in the 50 breaststroke (59.65), plus took second in the 25 backstroke and third in the 100 and 200 freestyle. JayLee DeBoer was the winner in the 100 freestyle (1:49.76) and took second in the 25 butterfly, 25 breaststroke and 50 freestyle, plus third in the 50 breaststroke. Berkeley Norden took second in the 100 backstroke and third in the 25 backstroke.
Carver Denning claimed first place in the boys 17-and-over age division for all six events he competed in, winning the 50-yard freestyle (26.28 seconds), 200 freestyle (2 minutes, 3.92 seconds), 200 individual medley (2:17.71), 200 backstroke (2:32.02), 400 IM and 1,000 freestyle (11:38.02).
Jordan Herrlein took first place in the boys 17-and-over 50 breaststroke (37.64), 50 backstroke (33.15), 100 freestyle (1:02.54), 100 breaststroke (1:24.66) and 100 individual medley (1:15.61). He was also second in the 100 backstroke and third in the 50 freestyle.
Colin Wilson was first in the 100 backstroke (1:12.66) and 500 freestyle (6:14.03). He was second in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 1,000 freestyle.
Ben Anderson collected first-place finishes in the boys age 15-16 division for six events: 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.25), 200 backstroke (2:19.18), 200 individual medley (2:13.27), 400 IM (5:03.74), 500 freestyle (5:35.80) and 1,000 freestyle (11:20.83). He was also second in the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke.
Also in the boys 15-16 division, Kooper Moody and Peyton Miller each took first in three events. Moody won the 100 backstroke (1:09.97), 100 individual medley (1:07.72) and 200 freestyle (2:10.83). He was second in the 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 500 freestyle and third in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. Miller won the 50 freestyle (26.62), 50 backstroke (29.88) and 100 freestyle (57.68). He was second in the 100 individual medley and 1,000 freestyle and third in the 400 IM. Badyn Hickey was second in the 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle and third in the 100 freestyle, 100 individual medley, 200 breaststroke and 500 freestyle.
Kip Wede had a big meet in the boys 13-14 age group, finishing first in eight events. Those included the 50 butterfly (27.83), 100 free (55.87), 200 free (2:11.09), 100 breast (1:04.94), 200 breast (2:25.97), 100 back (1:03.07), 200 back (2:27.25) and the 200 IM (2:17.08).
Sebastian Stage had a first-place finish in the 50 backstroke (36.97) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:38.29), and added second-place finishes in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back and 200 free.
Haistyn Huss finished first in the 50 breaststroke (33.25) and the 50 freestyle (28.30) and was second in the 100 breaststroke, 100 IM, 200 breaststroke, 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly and 200 IM.
Jonah Iburg had a second-place mark in the 50 breaststroke and took third in the 50 butterfly, 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast and 100 IM and 200 IM. Knox Bohlen took second place in the 50 backstroke and third in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle. Brantley Goad was a third-place finisher in the 50 breaststroke.
For boys ages 11-12, Nash Kremer had eight first-place finishes. He was champion in the 50 freestyle (28.58), 50 butterfly (36.69), 50 breaststroke (39.54), 100 freestyle (1:03.54), 100 backstroke (1:16.05), 100 breaststroke (1:24.15), 200 freestyle (2:22.68) and 200 IM (2:42.04). Grant Kittle won the 50 backstroke (40.24) and was second in the 100 backstroke, while Ryken Davis was first in the 500 freestyle (7:07.74) and third in the 100 freestyle and 100 IM. Kai Walder won the 100 butterfly (1:33.71), was second in the 100 IM and 100 butterfly and third in the 50 butterfly and 200 freestyle. Teammate Adam Murphy was second in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke, and third in the 500 freestyle.
For the boys 8-and-under races, Reed Davis finished first in four events, including the 25 butterfly (26.45), 50 freestyle (44.70), 50 backstroke (52.75) and 100 freestyle (1:48.24), while taking second in the 25 freestyle (21.92) and 25 backstroke (27.17).
Cyrus Iburg took first place in the 25 freestyle (21.42), 25 breaststroke (31.58) and 50 breaststroke (1:12.55), while also logging second-place finishes in the 25 butterfly, 100 free and third place marks in the 25 backstroke, 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle. Max Pfaff took first in the 25 backstroke (26.79), was second in the 50 back and 50 freestyle and was third in the 25 freestyle. Trajan DeBoer was second in the 25 breaststroke and third in the 100 freestyle.
In the age 9-10 boys competitions, Jordy Walder had a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:54.23), plus a second-place time in the 50 free and took third in the 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 IM and 200 IM. Greyson Fraser was second in the 50 breaststroke (56.26) and Jack McEntee finished third in the 50 breaststroke and 50 backstroke.
The Riptide will host another home indoor meet on Jan. 17-18 in Mitchell.
