A baseball game was played inside Clemson Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.

Sort of.

The Savannah Bananas took their Harlem Globetrotters-tailored approach to baseball to Death Valley and put on a show for a sellout crowd of 81,000 fans Saturday. It was the first time the Bananas had ever performed in a major college football stadium.

Not surprisingly, it was also the largest crowd to ever witness Banana Ball, which features everything from batters on stilts, outfielders doing acrobatics, umpires dancing in the middle of an at-bat, and fans being allowed to catch a foul ball for an out.

The team and its eccentric owner Jesse Cole, who dons an all-yellow, P.T. Barnum-inspired suit to each game, was recently profiled in a '60 Minutes' piece by veteran news correspondent Lesley Stahl.

For one night only, Banana Ball featured Clemson coach Dabo Swinney leading the Bananas down The Hill and into Memorial Stadium. Swinney had quite a fun time doing it and said that he was a big fan of the Bananas' act.

"I think we're both unique in how we go about doing our work," Swinney said during an interview when asked about any similarities between the Bananas and Clemson football. "We started our program 16 years ago trying to do things a little bit different in a unique way. (The Bananas) have certainly done that. Unbelievable vision and to see it, it's so entertaining. It never stops. It truly is one of the funnest things I've ever been a part of."

Here's what social media had to say about Dabo Swinney joining the Savannah Bananas for a night of fun, as well as photos from the event.

Imagine someone telling you last year that Dabo Swinney would be in a sold-out Memorial Stadium — and there wouldn’t be a football game.

Hard to believe anyone would’ve bought it. pic.twitter.com/CMyk4AC3Q1

The field is almost set for the Savannah Bananas game at Clemson.

There will be a net in left field (because it's only 190 feet), but the Bananas have already sold out of all 81,000 tickets.

This will be their biggest game ever. pic.twitter.com/helUGzmTnL
