Penn State continues to build up its roster for Matt Campbell wiht some familiar faces. The latest addition to the roster from the transfer portal is Iowa State defensive lineman Ikenna Ezeogu, who is joining the program for the spring semester. The news of the commitment was first reported by Greg Pickel of Blue White Illustrated.
Ezeogu becomes the latest Iowa State product to join Campbell at Penn State, continuing a clear trend this offseason. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman is a Missouri native and adds a physical presence up front with just one year of eligibility remaining.
It’s no secret that Campbell values guys who have already proven themselves at the Power Five level, and Ezeogu fits that bill. He knows what is expected in high-stakes games and should be ready to contribute from day one.
In his last three seasons with the Cyclones, Ezeogu totaled 60 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, four pass deflections, and one fumble recovery. He played both edge and interior spots, showcasing versatility across Iowa State’s defensive line.
While his stats don’t jump off the page, his film shows a high-motor defender who can set the edge, collapse the pocket, and disrupt passing lanes with his length. At 285 pounds, he has the size to hold his own in the Big Ten trenches.
Penn State’s defensive line room is undergoing a bit of a makeover, and Ezeogu steps in as a veteran who’s seen plenty of action against top-tier competition. His experience will be crucial as the Nittany Lions work with younger talent around him.
Expect him to be in the rotation early, especially on early downs and run-stuffing situations. He’s not just a depth piece — he’s here to compete and contribute.
This is another solid portal pickup for Campbell and his staff. Ezeogu isn’t a flashy name, but he’s a reliable, physical defender who knows the scheme and brings leadership to the locker room.
With so many Iowa State connections now forming the foundation of this new Penn State era, don’t be surprised if this move helps fast-track the defensive rebuild heading into 2026.
